If you think scientific experiments are all about test tubes and microscopes… get ready to change your mind!
At the CRIMAC Seat in Amendolara (CS), students and enthusiasts can immerse themselves in an innovative workshop to discover what mesocosms are and how these extraordinary ‘miniature ecosystems’ work.
Imagine being able to recreate a section of the oceans in a controlled environment: here, researchers study the effects of climate change and pollution on marine animals and plants, with astonishing precision!
But it’s not just theory!
Visitors will be able to see for themselves the cutting-edge technologies that help researchers realistically simulate the conditions of our seas: from equipment for controlling temperature, salinity and pH to sensors for recording environmental variables
And that’s not all! Together we’ll find out:
- The benefits of using mesocosms in scientific research;
- The secrets of treating seawater before it is used;
- The techniques used to recreate little-known habitats, such as deep-sea environments or hydrothermal vents, through the explanation of ongoing or previously conducted experiments.
Ready for a practical challenge?
Put yourself to the test with an interactive session where you’ll get a close-up look at how a mesocosm is designed, manipulate environmental variables and interpret real data. All with the support of our technicians!
