At the CRIMAC centre of the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, you can take part in a unique educational workshop – a truly multi-sensory journey that begins with the evocative melodies of ancient sea shanties. Let yourself be transported to a forgotten world, where Greek myths and legends come to life through the flight and calls of these fascinating creatures.
But that’s not all! Get ready for a rude awakening to the realities of today, with a direct look at the crucial challenges seabirds face today: from the plastic nightmare threatening their lives to the unacceptable scourge of bycatch.
And to make the experience even more engaging, put yourself to the test with a really fun hands-on activity! We’ll learn to distinguish between feathers and quills, discover the secrets of flight and tail feathers (primary, secondary and tertiary… don’t worry, we’ll guide you!), and take a close look at educational specimens of different species. The grand finale? An anatomical and systematic Tetris game that will show you birds… from a whole new perspective!
