International Day of Women in Science, CRIMAC scientists Claudia Scianna and Carola Murano interviewed by Radio Popolare

The history of science is dotted with female figures who, while often remaining on the sidelines, have helped chart the course of current research.

Today, more and more female researchers are conducting cutting-edge studies with commitment, passion, and intuition, reminding us that science is not just about numbers and data, but also about dedication and a desire for discovery.

To celebrate International Women in Science Day, we invite you to listen to the voices of two CRIMAC scientists interviewed by Radio Popolare. These professionals experience the sea firsthand, putting their expertise and determination to work in research aimed at protecting and preserving the marine environment.

Claudia Scianna: illustrated her work in Marine Protected Areas, focusing on collaboration with fishermen to develop increasingly eco-friendly solutions aimed at safeguarding the biodiversity of our seas.

Carola Murano: addressed issues relating to ecotoxicology with a focus on the Mediterranean Sea and the coasts of our Country, ranging from the impact of plastics to that of drugs and substances that inevitably end up in the sea.

Both concluded their speeches in line with the International Day, sharing the main challenges they faced in their professional careers and analyzing the current prospects for young female researchers in the field of marine biology.
