Our course to become coastal seabird surveyors has officially begun and is off to a flying start with the first two lessons!

It was incredible to see curious and enthusiastic faces gathered together to explore the wonderful world of seabirds.

We marvelled at the dynamic gliding flight of the shearwaters and the incredible diving skills of the cormorants and shags, before taking a closer look at the countless shades of grey among the gulls!

During the first two sessions, our expert ornithologists, Rosario Balestrieri and Salvatore Urso, guided us through the basics of species identification, revealing the secrets of their behaviour and the challenges they face.

But the adventure has only just begun! In the coming lessons, we will take a closer look at migration, a phenomenon that, for the majority of species (around 200 in Europe), turns the sea into the most challenging ecological barrier to overcome.
