The final event of the PRIN Reconnect project was a great success!

Thanks to the outstanding turnout at the meeting, we were able to share the project’s findings with the Marine Protected Areas, the Department of Environment and Territory, fishermen, diving centres and many other stakeholders.

The discussion began with a focus on MPAs, examining data on the distribution of the dusky grouper and the connectivity of its populations around Sicily.

We then opened our doors to the public to demonstrate how protected areas can extend their benefits beyond their boundaries, safeguarding marine biodiversity through an interconnected network stretching along the entire Sicilian coastline.
