Today is MPADay – Marine Protected Areas Day!

On August 1st we celebrate the key role of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in protecting marine biodiversity and supporting sustainable futures for coastal communities.

The CRIMAC Center is committed in the study and monitoring of MPAs, including the Capo Rizzuto MPA and the Calabrian Regional Marine Parks.

Thanks to the work of its researchers, CRIMAC collects crucial scientific data that forms the basis for effective management of these valuable areas.

Just as important is engaging with local stakeholders – especially small scale fishers – to foster sustainable resource use.
